Focusing the Heart

Prayer is insufficient if we stray

And wander in the alleyways of mind

For then the concentration flags and falls

And scraps of thought flutter in the wind.

We must fix our prayer as on a candle's flame

Expunging from the mind the outward sense

Focusing the heart upon the Name

In gratitude and humble reverence.
